Late to the party 1

It's been an eventful few weeks and months and whatnot. I almost feel a bit bad about not posting on current events, but then I feel like that's not exactly what this blog is about and that other blogs ( e.g. iPott ) are a lot better if you want to stay more informed about personal data security/privacy and the like. My blog is probably only interesting to people who are curious about my life and reading about what I've been up to (so, I guess any number of international intelligence agencies? 'Sup, guys...) Many of my fellow Iron Bloggers chose to write about (and take part in) the " Stop Watching Us - We are all Edward Snowden " demonstration that took place on Saturday. There was also the less politically/socially important World Astra Beer Day to compete with, a couple of summer festivals, and whatever...lots of things were happening this past weekend. I wasn't at any of them. Instead, when I wasn't making a 7-year-old fetch me mojitos and...

Old sack

This is an actual exchange between my young nephew and my brother. My nephew posted this bizarre status update, 47 of his friends "liked" it, and my brother basically responded what I (and probably every person over 20-years-old, definitely everyone over 30) was thinking. It's like a completely different language that I don't want to learn. I've also had a 7-year-old in my apartment for the last 4 days. She's a great kid, but...I can't deal with the youth. I don't really have the energy or patience or overall desire to. And I didn't even have to take care of her the whole time. She's here with another adult. It's only been a couple of hours a day and I feel just wiped out. Being around kids makes me want to apologize to everyone who had to deal with me as a child. Luckily for me, the kid also serves up a wicked strawberry mojito, which gives her a slight edge over most other children her age.

Playing dress up

If you've ever interacted with me in person, then you know that I'm not very good about disguising my inner feelings when I don't like doing something. My facial expressions usually betray the words that come out of my mouth. Sorry, it's just my face. Can't help it. Shopping, however, is one area in which my face and my mouth words are nearly perfectly synchronized. It's the most boring shit in the world and my tolerance for it is absurdly low. Wait...back up. It depends on the shopping. I'm specifically talking about shopping for clothing and/or clothing accessories. Wait...no...back up again. It's mostly all shopping that's not grocery shopping. No, I even hate doing that...but I have to. I guess that what I'm getting at is that I wish that someone would do all of my shopping for everything for me. And I actually only want to be present for cool things like gadgets and music. If someone else could do all the rest of the shopping for me...that...

Laundromat Books #1 & #2

As you can see, I haven't yet managed to break my bad Sunday posting habit. Last week was full of orthopedic (not-so) fun times, which kind of put a hiccup in most of my plans for last week. A couple of orthopedic devices (plus an ice pack and some painkillers) later, I'm back in the game! Sunday is laundry day around these parts and I'm fortunate enough to live a stone's throw away from a laundromat. Some might consider owning a washing machine to be even more fortunate, but those people are wrong. More fortunate would be owning both a washing machine *and* a dryer. Anything else is for losers and babies. That said, I own neither, but I can procure the services of both within like 30 or 40 yards from my apartment. It's a good setup and I forgot how much I loved being able to have all my laundry washed and dried on the same day (as opposed to washed on one day and dry three days later). Definitely not optimal, but it's tolerable. Anyway, fuck all that noise,...

Big ish poppin'

The great thing about Iron Blogger is that I have really started writing a least once a week, but, as you can see, my posts end up happening on Sundays (the last day of the weekly deadline). So, I still have to work on that. Wednesday is the next Iron Blogger meet up, which I think will be interesting. I'd like to talk to fellow IB n00b and creator of the " Rap 'n' Blues "  blog, for reasons that should be obvious. It's a radio week, so there's going to be a lot to do just in general.
