This is not a f***ing food blog #1 (Pizza)

I was in Dresden for the past few days, which I'm going to use as my excuse for missing my post last week. To make up for the 5€ that I agreed to put in to the Iron Blogger pot for missed posts, I'll try to be extra good about writing this week. The St. Jude storm is currently wreaking havoc through Northwestern Europe and I guess I managed to get home right before Hamburg traffic and public transportation went all to shit. Pretty glad that I wasn't caught in this crap up while in the office. At any rate, after 4.5 hours in the train, I was pretty hungry and didn't want to go back out into the crazy-ass wind, so I had to make due with whatever leftovers I had in my fridge and pantry. So, I decided to make a pizza. This will be the second day in a row that I made a whole homemade pizza by myself. Yesterday, I made one for me and C.Dub and it turned out surprisingly well. Trying it out again is kind of like tempting the fates, because I am not good at making dough

A reasonable level of domesticity

Right now, my apartment smells like delicious banana bread. I baked it myself and it tastes mad good, yo. I'm not going to give you the recipe though, because this isn't a food blog. One of the biggest upsides to living by myself is that I've been cooking a lot more. Ok, it also helps that I'm a bit "financially-challenged". And that I have a dishwasher. It's a scientific fact that washing dishes is the worst part of cooking. I don't have the foresight, energy, or overall desire to go full-on DIY. For example, I think I'd have to be a really special kind of bored to go about preserving things in jars (even though I respect those who do that). I've just found that I function well at this basic level. It works for me. Like keeping my apartment in a basically tidy state. I didn't think that I'd be able to manage that, turns out I'm not too bad at it.   In general, I tend to do more kitchen activities in the winter an

Turn My Headphones Up - October 2013

I was pretty pleased with this month's playlist. I've been getting better at having the music stuff sorted out in advance and I think it makes a difference. Maybe only a slight difference, but a difference none the less. Now, I just have to concentrate more on what I'm actually going to say about the music. I've mentioned a few times that it feels strange in the station all by myself and talking to no on in particular, while trying to sound like I'm talking to everyone in particular. This month, I had some fairly detailed notes...that I forgot to print out. So, I was reading them from my laptop screen. And -- as you'll be able to hear -- it got kinda messy. As for the Antilopen Gang interview, that's not yet complete, but I did a short teaser at the beginning of the show. The "outtakes" (aka the stuff we recorded right after the concert) are quite amusing, but I think a lot of it I'd treat as "off the record". It's either em

4th down

I wish I had something more exciting to write this week, but it's Sunday and I'm about to go to bed in a few hours and, to be perfectly frank, I do not want to pay 5€ into the Iron Blogger pool . So, here's a couple of things that are on my mind as I prepare to tackle the tail end of 2013. It's been about a year since the Crash and Burn of 2012. I've been a narrative designer for about a year; have a year of living by myself under my belt; I made it to the 1-year anniversary of my mom's passing; and it's been almost a year since the big breakup. Yeah, all those things happened around this time last year and sometimes it's a bit difficult for me to process. Strike that, it's not difficult to process, because that's what I've been doing this whole time (I think). It's [insert various positive and negative adjectives here] for me to think about the things that I've lost and the things that I've gained (or re-gained) during this tim
